The location was actually at the Old Melbourne Goal! It was empty when we shot so we were lucky. But it was freezing!

Red velvet, eh? I've seen a lot of terrible Vincents over the years, and it's absolutely the cape which makes or breaks the costume. Gotta have drape and weight!
